m/1896 bayonet with flat locking stud

Here´s an early production swedish mauser bayonet in somewhat worn condition. The manufacturing quality of the old bayonet is supposed to be the better than the later conical stud version, because of its deep and well made checkering. Comparison here. I bought this specimen in a flea market some ten years ago. It looks as if it has spent years and years outdoors, probably lost by some poor soldier a long time ago. Badly pitted by rust is an understatement! My kids suspect it´s some kind of medieval knight´s sword!
